Adesuwa Aighewi

The Art of Ruling the Runway

When Adesuwa Aighewi isn’t walking the runway for high fashion labels such as Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs or Chanel, she is making films or writing books and editorials. Of Nigerian, Chinese and Thai descent, Adesuwa is renowned for vocalizing the deep layers of culture, history, and societal impact embodied by the fashion industry.

Adesuwa started modelling to financially support herself while she was an intern at The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). However, she took a leap in her modelling career when, in 2010, she partook in a test shoot. Since then, Adesuwa has dominated the biggest runways in the world and graced the covers of renowned magazines including Vogue, I-D, New York Times Style. She has also featured in multiple editorials for Harper’s Bazaar, CR Fashion Book, Dazed, amongst others.

In 2018, Adesuwa was named in the Dazed100, a list of the most influential people shaping youth culture. In 2019, she was named in Models.com’s “Top 50” supermodels list and was recognized as one of the leading Creatives of the “NEW WAVE” by the British Fashion Council.
